The government of Ghana and organized labor have conducted discussione for the fourth time to draw conclusions on a forecasted 60% increase in base salary of public sector workers.
In line of compensation for the tough economic conditions in the country, organized labor is requesting for an increment in the base pay of the single spine salary system.
Though the government proposed an 18% rise on Wednesday after a 12% rejection from the union, Dr. Isaac Bampoe Addo, one who doubles as the Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff of Ghana (CLOSAG) has indicated that the union is unyielding in their demand.
He added that the government has advanced to 18%. Additionally, he indicated that the administration stated that it will consult and meet with residents to provide input.
Mr. Isaac Bampoe stated that the budget has been read and there is a 2.5% increase in VAT.
Moving further, he stated that the tax brackets will be unchanged which is why the CLOSAG is requesting for a 65% increase right now based on the fact that it will add to their load hence their request for more base salary payment.
