Communications Minister Gives Final Grace Period For Completion Of SIM Re-registeration Process; See New Deadline


The Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Hon. Ursula has sent out a final notice to all SIM card holders who are yet to complete their SIM re-registeration.

In a recent announcement made by the legislator, she stated SIM card holders who have successfully completed the first stage of the SIM re-registeration process will be given a another grace period before their SIM cards are finally deactivated.

According to the Minister, his Ministry will administer punitive measures to SIM card holders who have intentionally decided not to complete stage 2 of the re-registeration process.

She reiterated that, the punitive measures will be to deactivate SIM cards of these citizens starting from November 17, 2022.

Adding to this, Mrs. Ursula said the refusal of persons who have genuine concern not to finish up with the registration process hinders the progress of the initiative, which according to him intends to draw down fraudulent activities perpetuated by mobile phones or SIM-enabled devices.
