Finance Minister Finally Reveals Amount Of Money That Has Been Invested Into Free SHS So Far; See Whooping Amount And Updates On The Policy


The Minister of Finance, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta has provided some information on the review of the free SHS policy which was rumored by some citizens a few months ago.

According to Ofori Atta, the educational policy to ensure free access to education by government has been at the core of their national transformational efforts since 2017.

He reiterated that, at the moment an amount of ¢3.5 billion has been Invested on the Free SHS policy so far and this government investment has benefited more than 1.2 million Ghanaian children and counting.

Explaining further, he said the whopping amount of money was invested into the policy to ensure 1,261,495 children in Ghana are enabled access to free senior high school education under the free SHS programme at the end of the year 2021.

Per a recent speech delivered in parliament on Monday, 25 July 2022, the Finance Minister stated emphatically that government has no plans on reviewing the educational policy to disenfranchise the vulnerable in the Ghanaian community.
