Former UG Vice Chancellor Dies At 87
Emeritus Prof. George Benneh, has been confirmed dead.
The 87-year-old Former Vice Chancellor of the University Of Ghana, legon, lost his life on Thursday at his residence in East Legon.
This sad news was confirmed by a family spokesperson who made an indication that Prof. Benneh’s funeral arrangements will be publicized later.
Prof. George Benneh was the husband of Mrs. Adelaide Mary Benneh.
He left behind six children and several grandchildren.
Prof. Benneh had the opportunity to serve as Minister of State in the SMC2 regime, the AFRC regime in the 3rd Republic of Ghana.
The professor also held portfolios which included Lands and Natural Resources, Fuel and Power.
He also had the chance to serve as Minister for Finance during the Hila Limann tenure of Government.
Prof. Benneh was given an award by the ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor, as the “Star of Volta” sometime ago.
He was born on 6th March 1943, to Mr. Isaac William Benneh.
His father was an active politician during the first Republic of the Nkrumah-led government.
