Nana Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has served an urgent notice indicating any sub-chief under his authority will be severely dealt with, if caught engaging in illegal small scale mining also known as ‘Galamsey’.
The Paramount chief of the Asante Kingdom said he will not overlook activities that are destroying water bodies in the country.

Speaking at a Regional Consultative Dialogue monitored by Tapnewsgh, Otumfuo said he feels some critical steps should be taken to aid the country in abolishing the phenomenon regardless of the personalities involved.
He said on his part, he has already cautioned his chiefs and elders against participation in such illegalital activities, therefore he will not hesitate to administer serious sanctions on anybody found guilty.

Osei Tutu said he has already received reports on some illegal activities happening at Amanse and the Fomena area, and he will be investigating to see what is actually happening there.
