The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Abu Jinapor has made an announcement on government’s recent decision to deploy soldiers to galamsey hotspots in order to f!ght the menace.
Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor stated that the government is planning on implementing new measures to combat illegal mining operations popularly known as galamsey.
He reiterated that, unlike previous millitary operations which lasted for only three months, this new millitary action will be a sustained effort until the situation is brought to a successful end.
In addition to this disclosure, Hon. Abu Jinapor called for a change in attitude as well as collaboration with all stakeholders to help win the f!ght against illegal mining operations in the country.
