Messi has been able to make history after managing to score an equalizer for Paris Saint Germain during their recent encounter with the Maccabi Haifa football club.
The Argentinian attacker’s goal came during the 37th minute to cancel Tjarron Chery’s goal for Maccabi Haifa bringing the scores to 1-1 draw after the total ninety minutes of the game played in Israel.
The goal netted by Lionel Messi has made him the only player who has scored against 39 different opposing teams as far as the Champions League is concerned.
Prior to PSG’s game against Maccabi, Messi shared the record with Cristiano Ronaldo who happens to be the only player aside Messi to have scored against 38 different opponents in the Champions League.
However, after surpassing the record he shares with Ronaldo, he is now the only player to have played and scores against 39 distinct opponents in the Champions League.
