Just In: Minority Rejects Government’s Debt Exchange Program; See Why


The minority group in parliament has rejected the government’s transformation program aimed at restructuring Ghana’s debt into a more substantial level.

Forming an integral part of the ongoing negotiations of ongoing IMF negotiation, the state has already began with the exchange of already sold bonds for new ones with a much flexible interest payment plan.

However, in a recent address made by the leader of minority group of parliament, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, he made it clear the form and structure of the structure cannot be accepted by his caucus.

In relation to their rejection, he questioned the Finance Minister on why the restructuring of terms concerning loan agreement wasn’t included in the 2023 budget presented before the House a few days ago.
