Just In: Nigerian Government Plans To Change The Country’s Name To United African Republic


There has been a proposal by the governing body responsible for constitutional review, to change the identity of Nigeria to a different name.

Adeleye Jokotoye, a tax consultant, masterminded this proposal to the committee at the South West Zonal Public Hearing in Lagos on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

Explaining further on his proposal, he indicated that the name ‘Nigeria’ was given to the country by its colonial masters, hence it should be changed.

He made it clear that considering his proposal will ensure the country is transformed both physically and mentally.

He said the two names that need to be considered the change are ‘United Alkebulan Republic’ and ‘United African Republic’.

Providing a reason for these names, he said the country encompasses a number of ethnic groups that need to be united to ensure the country progresses.
