Recently, one government initiative that has gained a high level of popularity within the Ghanaian lawmaking system is the electronic transaction levy.
After several opposition and and demand for its scrap from members of the opposition party and a few Ghanaians, the e-levy bill was passed into law after the President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo assented to it yesterday.
In view of this, the MP for the North Tongu constituency, Hon Okudzeto Ablakwa has stated clearly that the NDC and parliamentary members of the minority group have not given up on the f!ght to abolish the electronic transaction levy bill passed as law.
Speaking further on the issue, he reiterated that members of the minority and Ghanaians have fiercely stood against a government that is vulnerably bent on imposing the unpopular e-levy bill on Ghanaians.
Furthermore, he stated that Nana Addo has suddenly gained notoriety for imposing excruciating economic hardship on the people of Ghana.
In a recent Facebook post shared by the North Tongu legislator, he made it clear that it’s quite obvious citizens have lost trust in Ghanaian politicians be specifically because of utmost deception and failure or deliver on promises.
However, that should not put all politicians in one basket in terms of economic mismanagement.
Making things clear on the stand of the NDC, he stated that it essential to note that it’s not the NDC that is pushing for the e-levy agenda not it’s forceful imposition on Ghanaians despite the overwhelming agitation from the Ghanaian populace.
