Nsawam is a located in Southern Ghana. It is the capital town is of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri municipal district, a district in the Eastern region of Ghana.
Akan is the dominating ethnic group in the Nsawam township. Aside Akan, some inhabitants speak the Ewe and Ga language.
The community is controlled by the Nsawam-Adoagyiri district. As of 2013, the town had a settlement population of 44,522 people.
Nsawam is located along the main railway Accra and Kumasi highway. It is bordered by the Densu river and Adoagyiri.

The Densu river is the main source of water for both domestic and industrial purposes of indigenes.
Nsawam is home to a number of famous educational institutions in Ghana. Some of these institutions include the St. Martins Senior High School and Prince Boateng School.

Aside these educational institutions, there is the New Life Hospital, Notre Dame Clinic and the Nsawam Government.
One important landmark that comes to mind anytime the name Nsawam is mentioned is the Nsawam Prison.
It is one of the most famous prisons in Ghana. The prison comprises of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons and the Nsawam Security Medium Female.
It is located adjacent the Nsawam-Aburi road.
