NSMQ 2021: West Africa SHS Begins Preliminary Contest With An Outstanding Performance
The preliminary National Science and Math Quiz contests for Accra, began yesterday, and some schools were lucky enough to emerge victorious, after winning their contests.
One contest that was very competitive was the second contest in the Greater Accra region. The contest had four of Accra’s most acknowledged senior high schools.
The competition had 2018 National Science and Math Quiz finalists West African SHS, Kinbu Senior High Technical School, Osu Presec and Tema Senior High School.
Now let’s do a breakdown of how the contest went.
In the first round, West Africa SHS led with 22 points. They were followed closely by Tema SHS who had 19 points. Kinbu SHS had 18 while Osu Presec stayed at the bottom with 15 points.
The second round witnessed West Africa SHS maintaining their lead with 30 points.
Tema SHS proved their worth by staying close to West Africa SHS with 26 points after a very competitive race between the two schools.
During the third round, the tables turned.
Tema SHS rose to the top with 36 points, leaving West Africa SHS battling with 34 points at the second position.
The third and fourth positions were held by Kinbu SHTS who had 30 points, and Osu Presec with 24 points respectively.
However, at the final round of the whole contest, West Africa SHS rose again, by grabbing 40 points as against Tema SHS 39 points gathered.
The contest ended with West Africa SHS emerging as winners of the preliminary contest.
It was all joy for students of West Africa SHS, after they pulled a very narrow win, by beating the Tema based senior high school.
