The Black Stars of Ghana were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup tournament after Uruguay hammered two goals into the net of the Ghanaian post.
The astonishing scoreline of the final group H game rose the expectation of Luis Suarez who happens to be skipper of the Uruguayan team because he finally had the chance to take his team to knockout stages and probably make history by winning the World Cup for his country before retirement.
Divergent to these expectations, Uruguay was eliminated from the tournament alongside Ghana based on the points gathered by both South Korea and Uruguay after the final set of matches.
The sudden grief of the Uruguayan skipper didn’t get on the nerves of Africans as they took to their social media pages to celebrate with fans from Ghana for shuttering his dreams of making history after denying Ghana and Africa the opportunity to make it to semifinals stage of the World Cup in 2010.
Images of the Uruguayan skipper weeping after failing to make it to the last 16 were beemed across the screens at the Al Janoub Stadium and as expected, African fans including a journalist from Nigeria, a Kenyan lawyer among others celebrated at the expense of Suarez.
To these African football lovers, it was justice done by Ghana and Africa for Luis Suarez, the villain of 2010 World Cup, to be weeping due to lack of qualification.
