Samuel Osei Kuffour is a retired Ghanaian player who played as a defender for the Ghanaian national team in the late 90’s.

He was born on 3 September 1976 which means he is 45 years old as we speak.

Samuel Osei Kuffour is well known for his great physical power and the excellent tactical football skills he exhibited while playing for Bayern Munich football club.

He played at Bayern Munich for over ten years and was accredited for a total of 14 honors playing for nearly 250 official matches.

Sammy played in one World Cup (2006) and five different African Cup of Nations tournaments. In 1991, Samuel Osei Kuffour was brought to Europe by Torino Fc when he was just 15 years old.

This was after he had played junior football for local teams in Ghana for a while. In 1993, he joined the Bayern Munich football club after he left Torino.

Osei Kuffour spent 11 seasons at Bayern Munich rising from the youth team to become a prominent first-squad member who lifted the UEFA Champions league trophy with the club.

He was also part of the Bayern Munich squad which lost to Manchester United in the 1999 UEFA Champions league final.

At the age of 18, he became the youngest player to ever score in the UEFA Champions league.

Sammy made over 60 appearances in the UEFA Champions League tournament making one of the most decorated African players of all time.

In 2005, Kuffour left Bayern Munich and signed a three-year deal with AS Roma in a fee transfer. He made 21 appearances in his debut season away on international duty.

In 2007, Samuel Osei Kuffour had a trial with Premier league crooners Sunderland, with the intention of making a permanent move.

A year after, AFC Ajax received Kuffour on a six-month loan contract with an option to continue playing for two more seasons. However, he was released following a lack of form.

On 10 September 2008, it was reported that he had retired from professional.

Afterwards, he moved to play for Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko and till date he still remains an illustrious Ghanaian player who has risen the flag of Ghana to an appreciable height.
