Tepa Senior High School is one of the most famous mixed schools located in the Greater Kumasi region of Ghana.

There are so many short forms and acronyms for senior high schools in Ghana. With Tepa SHS, there are identified by the acronyms “Greattess”.

Tepa SHS is a category B school located in the Ahafo Annoh district of the Ashanti region.

In 2019 National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) competition, they made a remarkable record when they defeated St. Johns Grammar School and Accra Academy to qualify for the semi-final stage of the competition for that year.

After beating those two top class senior high schools, they have not come that close in a very long time.

In 2020, they were adjudged the best senior high school in terms of WASSCE. This was after they had the had the best WASSCE results turn out in Kumasi. In the Greater Kumasi region, they are considered the best SHS in terms of WASSCE results.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum presented the school and its administration with citations as a result of their outstanding performance.

The citations were presented to 10% of the 135 senior high schools in the Greater Kumasi region who scored the highest marks in that years.

The citations were given after cumulating eight subjects from A1 to C6.

Per the criteria for ranking the best WASSCE school in Kumasi for that year, Tepa SHS topped the list and was followed by the popular Kumasi based girl’s school St. Louis.

The schools that occupied the third to six positions were Toase SHS, Kumasi High School, Ghana Muslim Mission SHS and Prempeh College.

The bottom four positions were taken by Kumasi Wesley Girls, T.I Amass-Kumasi, Opoku Ware School and Pentecost SHS-Kumasi.
